Ford has developed a new lightweight gearbox which uses the latest electronically-controlled twin-clutch technology for fast, smooth gear changes. It has called its new invention, the ‘Powershift’ transmission and it boasts that it is able to achieve the same fuel economy as a manual alternative.
The new gearbox is available with the 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine versions of either the Ford Focus or C-MAX. You get two choices of power with this package and they are 136PS or 110PS. The Focus models offer combined fuel economy of 48.6mpg and CO2 emissions of just 154 g/km regardless of their state of tune and the C-MAX models deliver 47.9mpg and 159g/km.
