Alluring new Vauxhall Flexstream Concept
Having been knocked in the past for their very unadventurous larger car styling, Vauxhall is now the proud owner of a red dot design award for it’s new Flexstream concept.

At a ceremony that took place in Singapore this week, Vauxhall was commended by an international jury for its innovative work. It is clear to see that there is quite a lot to be struck by from the rear hinged flex doors to the large transparent roof and twin tailgate doors that open from the side and swing upward. The Flexstream really pushes the bar up a notch with its electric technology which was showcased by owner GM on the Cheverolet Volt. Essentially power is derived from an electric motor which gets its charge from a lithium-ion battery and this allows the Flexstream to travel up to 55km on electric-drive-only. When the battery has expended all it’s energy the 1.3-litre turbo diesel engine is on hand to drive an electric generator and extend the car’s range by a few hundred miles. Last year the Red dot design award went to the Saab Aero X Concept and companies such as Nokia and Apple are also proud to hold Red Dot titles. We hope that by the time it reaches production, their will still be enough money in GM’s budget to keep the Flexstream Red Dot.
