The Bavarian manufacturer claims that the ALPINA D3 Bi-Turbo Saloon excels in performance, economy and low emissions. Employing the help of in-house tuning arm ALPINA it also has the Kudos of exclusivity and bucket loads of street cred despite being a diesel! The twin turbo in question is borrowed from the current BMW 123d which produces 214hp – this is more horsepower per litre than any other engine in a BMW ALPINA road car. You’ve also got 450Nm of torque, a top speed of 152mph and an acceleration time from 0-62mph of 6.9 seconds. Using a manual gearbox it has a combined fuel economy of 52.3mpg and C02 emissions of 143. The Automatic version gives you 50.4mpg on a combined cycle and emits 148g/km of the bad stuff. Prices for the four-door, four cylinder saloon are £29,950 for the manual and £31,585 for the automatic.
