This is the Vauxhall to take on the likes of the Audi S4 and VW Passat R36. It uses the outgoing Vectra VXR’s 2.8-litre V6 engine but GM has given it a considerable amount of re-mapping as well as a brand new head and camshafts and an upgraded turbo. This results in a 0-60mph sprint of 5.8 seconds and a jail bait top speed which is limited to 155mph, just in case you are a lunatic. It is the first VXR to get 4- wheel drive and is simply bursting at the seams with new technology. Take the HiPerStrut system for example which reduces torque steer and promotes negative camber during cornering. There’s bigger wheels, a lower ride height, powerful Brembo brakes and a cabin that’s been completely made over. You can choose from a range of VXR colours which are Arden Blue, Power Red, Carbon Flash Black, Silver Lake, Olympic White and Technical Grey. Prices are expected to be announced soon.
