MONOPOLY
It’s a game that will make or break you just like the art of modifying but one man who clearly knows how to handle his fortune is Mr. NSX

Although not officially changed by Deed Poll, Kaveh Farzaie’s tag name does stand to reason given that he has Monopoly of 11 out of 30 NSX’s in Sweden . Oh yes! And there’s been 16 Supra’s before it, 20 BMW M3’s, 3 Porsches, 2 Dodge Vipers and a Lambo but Kaveh maintains that the NSX will always hold a special place in his heart. It follows then that one of these ‘Fast and the Furious’ icons should get the special treatment – a Veilside Fortune bodykit, called thus because you need quite a windfall to get your mitts on one.
Perhaps the most daunting bit though is performing an extravagant cut and shut job to allow for the new glass fibre parts. Fitting the sumptuously wide front fenders, rear quarter panels, upper and lower door panels and side skirts is surely not a job you’d undertake after a night out on the lash. You need an incredibly steady hand and preferably better judgement than when you challenge your 19 stone mate to a pie eating and a shot downing competition all in the same night – not pretty! The kitted out NSX for which you’ll practically enter in to Moormonship for is on the other hand very alluring.
Indeed the ‘Fortune’ kit does give you cult status with only five existing worldwide. They are characterised by their antagonising front bumper with its warlike carbon fibre centre chin spoiler and the headlights which are again housed in carbon and have Lexan covers. The splendour is also apparent when you find yourself at its rear (as you often will). You’ll probably find yourself doing a double take as the detailing is far more Super Car than cheap street rocket. Spectacular fins grace the back bumper while Bezel rings surround the quad ensemble of lights. Another mark of excellence is the racy exhaust diffuser and light fixings also made of carbon.
This super light material has also been used for the bonnet, rear wing and door mirrors bringing the total kerb weight down to just 1140kg and upping its strip streaker status. Of course the standard model already had pretty healthy power figures due to its aluminium monocoque chassis. Without the help of turbo or supercharging it can reach 62mph from standstill in just 5.2 seconds and has a lethal brew of 270bhp lurking beneath its metal. For a modifying addict however au natural just isn’t an option and soon there will be a supercharger to enhance the six-cylinder engine. Currently Kaveh brags a cool 374 horses to which a dyno reading concurs.
The main performance upgrades are an obtrusively loud custom-made stainless steel exhaust system and manifold which Kaveh has TIG wielded by hand. The fuel system has also been modified and can now utilise higher octane fuel. Many enhancements to the combustion process are then achieved by a custom mapped engine management system. Now the quarter mile seems a little more hair-raising being achieved in 12.83 seconds while 100mph can be reached in just over 4 seconds.
Kaveh does point out though that the performance is hampered somewhat by the modified wheels but then there will always be pay-offs when you are trying to balance power and style. Given a larger width of 8.5” up front and 10” at the back goes some way to filling out the Fortune kit however the diameter has been kept to 19” at the front and 20” to the rear. The braking force provides 360mm of rotors all round with D2 eight-piston callipers at the front and six-pistons at the back. D2 is also responsible for the 35-way adjustable coilover suspension which according to Mr NSX gives it incredible road holding on Sweden ’s rural and enviously quiet roads.
Comfort has also been a prime consideration; although Kaveh experimented with the seats he realised that the original aluminium versions provided a better driving position than the Sparco bucket seats he had liked the look of. Sparco harnesses however are an improvement over the standard ones especially for track conditions. A short shift kit then adds a more potent edge to the whole driving experience with the shifters throw being reduced by 40%. Generous smatterings of carbon fibre can be found around the interior and the Alpine entertainment system certainly dominates the ambience with two touch screens, a rear camera, amps and speakers.
Despite the widespread appreciation for Saabs and Volvos in Sweden , Kaveh’s NSX has certainly made a name for itself on various websites and forums in his homeland. His trophy cabinet is also brimming with appreciation and every time a fellow enthusiast’s jaw drops to the floor it makes Kaveh’s investment ever more priceless!
