January 2005 VeilSide debuted the latest Fortune creation at the Tokyo Auto Salon. The inspiration for the design was the Japanese Samurai armor and featured unique curves and armor plating accents that can be associated with the design. The Fortune RX-7 was the crowd favorite and won the top award for the event from a panel of judges that included some of the leading Japanese automotive designers.

In summer of that same year the producers from Universal Studios had reached out to VeilSide for working with the Fast & Furious movie series for the third movie. The car had won over director, Justin Lin and stood out from the typical bolt on kitted cars that were featured in the previous films. The Fortune Rx7 was chosen for the lead role and joined the VeilSide 350z Version 3 as the main bad guy car and the Mazda Rx8 D1GT as the heroin car.

The film, titled Fast & the Furious Tokyo Drift was to be set in Japan. Due to the complexities of building left hand drive cars in Los Angeles, VeilSide was hired to build 4 replica cars to compliment the original car which had now been sold to Universal Studios. The car shown at Tokyo Auto Salon featured a red wine and black paint job and it was the original intention to keep the car in the same color scheme, however the test filming showed that vehicle appeared too dark on film and thus Universal devised the bright orange and black paint scheme as shown on the vehicle.

The car was featured very prominently in the film and garnered fans from around the world. The car was featured in Namco`s Tokyo Drift video game and has been featured as user developed modifications to Grand Theft Auto. Fans have also developed their own art work and the car is also featured on the turn3 creations Tee shirt.
