There is not much left over from the original Austin MINI (unfortunately), the mini-minor miracle on wheels, the vehicle that has strained our smile muscles together with the one and only Mr. Bean. Under the wings of BMW, this icon car has blossomed out to a real model family and has become a first class sales hit. As the more or less logical further development of the MINI Clubman, the Mini Cooper S All4 Countryman, which is here in question, is the fourth family member, lending off-road feelings despite its predestination for the city. As compact four-wheel driven estate wagon it complies best with all requirements for that.
The Wetterauer Engineering GmbH has materialized several changes on the project vehicle. The Coblence car tuners have begun by bringing the vehicle performance from 184 hp up to proud 235 PS with simultaneous torque increase from 240 up to now 355 newton meters. From BMC comes the carbon air box, which does its bit to the power plus. And the proprietary exhaust system with 200 cells sports cat along with the matt colored ceramics end pipes warrant for the pleasant engine sound. Additionally, the Countryman was fitted out by a full foliation inside and outside in matt brown and carbon.
As road connecting pieces, the ATS light alloy rims with the promising name Precision in 8,5x18 in. with Bridgestone Potenza tires in 225/45R18 without any doubt are another project highlight, particularly, because they are – contrarily to the whole vehicle – kept in polished chocolate brown. By the way, advantageous for the vehicle dynamics, the wheel-tire combination has been completed by H&R suspension springs.
Finally, let us have a view into the interior. There we can find weight-reduced Cobra full-carbon fine English leather upholstered shell-type front and rear seats. The fact that the further seats upgrading includes a lumbar support in combination with seat heating for the front passengers is nearly a matter of course for Wetterauer.
Another highlight is the mounted iPad multimedia dock.
After all, it is no wonder that the buyers are standing in queue for the rather flexible Countryman, especially when it comes along like this one – beefed up by the hands of experienced tuning masters by more power and visibly optimized optical effects.
