OTHER INFO: CAUTION, WIDE LOADThis BMW E46 is testament to the radical and monstrous creations born out of the Azevedo Motorsport workplace in the U.S.A. Krishna Lalwani dared to peep inside their pandora’s box and this was the result. Its colossal road presence is just an indicator of the seemingly infinite capabilities Krishna’s 325Ci turbo can pull out the bag. From far off in the distance you can spy its wider than standard Flossmann wide body and its tapered skirts sweeping the floor like a giant rain cloud shadowing anything in its path. Then there’s those 14x20” beetle crushing rear wheels. Hell, even the lips are a full 7 inches; eat your heart out Miss Jolie. Carbon fibre goodies were in keeping with its light weight racy appeal and to finish the job Krishna decided on a lick of lacquer from Lambo, a touch which also matched his gull wing doors. The Lambo door conversion was one of the first mods that Krishna undertook. To begin with his emphasis was on aesthetics and adding a full Racing Dynamics kit, 19” MVRs and an outrageous ICE install went down well on the show scene. But soon Krishna was hungry for something a little more extreme in the power department so he asked Rui Azevedo for a diagnostic opinion. The answer? A turbocharger; something Rue himself had fallen victim to in the quest to get his E30 M3 kicking ass like no other. The incredible talents of Rui were soon brought to fruition on Krishna’s E46 despite the vexing and rather fragile handiwork required in the engine bay. A custom manifold was needed to allow for the Garrett T3/T4 62-1 turbo, as well as custom piping, an intercooler and exhaust system. It was such a tight fit that stuff like the windshield wiper fluid had to be removed as he could barely close the hood. But New Jersey’s Krishna was more than happy to see shot of them due to the promise of heart pounding power gains. And what a result it was; we reckon hell hath no fury like this 400bhp beast. It even sounds the part with its crazy blow-off-valve, a sure contender for the highest ranking ASBO. The next step was yet again nothing short of ludicrous but then no compromise and no expense was spared on the choice of rims. They would be what would give him the ques to build the body around. Krishna was sure that patience would result in a better fitment and bodylines. The task of creating some custom wheels was somewhat familiar to Vince at iForged Performance Alloys but mammoth 20” wheels for a 325Ci took a while to sink in. Once Krisna had convinced him he was serious, Vince set to work on 10x20s for the front and 14x20s for the rear, the lips alone being the size of a standard wheel. The Azevedo Motorsports team were again called upon to finish the bodywork. However finding a specialist to give Krishna custom tyres was like finding a cure for the common cold, he knew he could be at it for years. It was an arduous chore trawling through tons of suppliers stock though Krishna eventually found that Pirelli made the 345/25x20 tyres he was after. But as sods law would have it, they were all out. Then another glimmer of hope was shone his way as he sized up the wheels on Saleen Mustangs to find a perfect match. Having almost exhausted their whole list of dealers, he finally spoke to one in California that had just four in stock. All four were snapped up in desperate haste and now he can only pray that he doesn’t get a flat. With the Uber wheels and tyres now ready for the road, Krishna was on the look out for something even fatter to wrap around them. The Flossmann Initial GTR wide body kit seemed like a compatible choice, all it needed was a little extra widening by 2” at the front and 4” at the rear. For a slicker fit and more street appeal, the kit’s vents and ducts were shaved and filled. Next to source was a whole range of carbon fibre accessories, these included authentic racing door panels, a CSL-style boot lid and an original M3 CSL lightweight roof. Jai from Azevedo was responsible for fitting the latter. The work involved removing the stock sun roof and old roof skin, lining up the new carbon fibre roof, securing and gluing it and then finally putting the windscreen back in place. The stunning carbon GTR bonnet was from Eisenhaus, cast your eyes further down the front bumper and note the hole in the front bumper, an uncanny match to the CSL used to take in air to the turbo. There’s also a Honda motorcycle filler cap meticulously shaved into the body which gives it a flawless seal. With all the carbon fibre added, Diogo at Azevedo suggested painting the E46 a darker colour. It took quite a while to find the perfect shade but Krishna was struck by the Lamborghini grey. It certainly adds an element of chic to his already jaw-dropping motor. Black interior is also a good look, Krishna’s E46 M3 black interior was imported from Germany, it goes well with the black Recaros and also compliments the carbon fibre door inserts. But how safe would Krishna feel in this almighty 400bhp machine? Well, his mind was soon put to rest when Rui from Azevedo fitted a six-point custom racing roll cage and a D2 Racing coilover suspension. Some anti roll bars and strut braces stiffened it yet further and it was also lowered 6” at the front and 3” at the back. It’s no less than 36-way adjustable and dons a look which is unquestionably that of a street racer. But what is used to stop the thing when it’s hurtling down New Jersey streets? It couldn’t really be anything much less than 15” Brembo front brakes with four-piston Ferrari F40 calipers and 13” Brembo rear dics now could it? The ICEing on the cake was an outlandish install by HiFi Audio which took just one week to fit. There’s MB Quarts, Pioneer Avic N2, Audiobahn, Icon gear and even a 20” Samsung LCD screen which is given pride of place in a custom fibreglass dash. So if you thought Greek weddings were big, fat and elaborate then think again! PAGE STATS:
