INFO: Renntech’s 548bhp Mercedes C63 AMG
Despite the AMG badge, many think that Mercedes C-Class could do with putting more heat into its hot parts. With just 451bhp at top whack, it will be left trailing on the Autobarn when the E63 or S63 want a bit of a show down. Well, it would have before Renntech got their greasy way with it. Now it not only has the 50bhp to bring it up to par with its sibling rivals; it also has another 50 on top of that.
Now the luxury German brand really have some explaining to do, you see the reason Mercedes gave for such shortcomings were that they couldn’t fit a 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 in to the smaller engine bay of the C63. However they could have reversed some of the restrictions that govern the ECU like Renntech has done and then given the Engine Management Unit a complete software upgrade, but then it still wouldn’t be as bespoke as Renntech’s. This is largely because you can’t pick one up at a Mercedes dealership and it isn’t so widely publicised.
Helping along the new stats of 548bhp and 510lb ft of torque, the C63 AMG has Renntech`s stainless-steel long-tube headers and new, track-oriented sound/performance pipes. They’ve also donated a height adjustable suspension kit and a high performance braking system both fresh off the production line.
