AC Cars Cobra Mark IV CRS 1998

SPIT FIRE

Rival American manufacturers were spitting feathers when Carroll Shelby fired up the legendary AC Cobra in 1962.

Since then its fans have incited several others to be made. The Mark IV CRS mesmerised enthusiasts again in 1998 and certainly lives up to its lethal name of Cobra

Although the AC Cobra was the brainchild of Shelby, it relied on AC Cars to donate their chassis. The original engine used was a Ford V8 small-block which had blistering performance due to a very favourable power to weight ratio.
By 1998 the Cobra had shed yet more pounds due to its revised carbon-fibre body shell, hence the carbon road series badge. The CRS model is powered by a massive 5-litre V8 engine which transfers 225bhp on to tarmac. The 0-60mph dash will flash before you in just 5.3 seconds and hits a top speed of 145mph. It is arguably the ultimate track car of all time and if you don’t get the chance to own one then you can always hire a replica Cobra for the day.
